Overview

District 1850
covers the western part of Lower Saxony, about half of
this federal state. There are 52 Rotary Clubs with about
2100 members, including seven islands in the North Sea.
Rotary in Germany is present in 14 districts with 824
clubs and 40100 members.
Lower Saxony
is one of the 16 federal states of the Federal Republik
of Germany. Situated in the North West of Germany it has
a population of 7,8 million people.
Lower Saxony is an area of forests and agriculture, nature
reservoirs and open water as well as hills in the South
and long coast lines along the open sea in the North.
Besides, there is flourishing high-tech industry, e.g.
Europe's biggest car manufacturer - Volkswagen - and shipyards.
Hannover, the capital of Lower Saxony, hosts the "Cebit"
(information technology) and the "Hannover Messe"
for industial equipment, two of the largest and most important
trade fairs in Europe. Furthermore Hannover hosted the
world exposition EXPO 2000.
